See Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Reunite at the Queen’s Palace Party for Prince Charles
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined forces with Kate Middleton and Prince William to pay tribute to Prince Charles at a palace party on Tuesday.
The royal foursome were on hand at the royal reception, which was hosted by Queen Elizabeth, to begin the 50th anniversary celebrations of Charles, 70, being invested as Prince of Wales.
Meghan, who is expecting her first child in April, wore her Amanda Wakeley white coat over a metallic brocade knee-length dress. She paired the look with nude heels and a metallic clutch. Kate opted for a pale green dress with ruffled sleeves and a high neck with button details. She wore cream heels and carried a matching pastel bespoke clutch.
The two royal couples, who spoke with guests at the Buckingham Palace reception, were last seen together in public on Christmas Day in Sandringham as they made their way to church services.
Since Meghan officially joined the royal family with her wedding last year to Harry, there has been a shake up in its synergy. However, both Meghan and Kate are exceedingly capable of owning the spotlight.
“An ordinary woman is not going to get to become a princess,” a palace insider previously told PEOPLE. “There is a necessary strength of character and ambition and single-mindedness. It takes someone really strong. That is Kate and Meghan.”
Although Charles was made Prince of Wales at the age of 9 in July 1958, his official ceremony didn’t take place until July 1, 1969, at Caernarfon Castle in north Wales.
At the party, leading figures from Wales and a selection of Welsh charities and organizations and businesses were represented, including some of Charles’ patronages, such as the Prince’s Trust Cymru.
Charles, who was there with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was feted with a musical performance in the ballroom by students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, of which the prince is patron. And the centerpiece of their performance was a new piece written for the anniversary by Welsh composer Paul Mealor, inspired by the legend of the Lady of Llyn y Fan, a mountain lake near Charles and Camilla’s Welsh home, Llwynywermod in Carmarthenshire.

Visitors were also able to view the regalia that the slightly uncomfortable-looking prince, then 20, wore for his investiture, including the Investiture Coronet, Sword, Ring and Rod and the Letters Patent that his mother the Queen issued for the creation of Charles, Duke of Cornwall as Prince of Wales in 1958.
The party came amid a busy week for the royals. Harry was in Birmingham on Monday, while William opened a theater in London. William and Kate head to Blackpool on Wednesday, and Meghan will host a special panel in honor of International Women’s Day on Friday. All four will be reunite again next Monday when they join the Queen, 92, for a service to mark Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey.
In a groundbreaking move on Monday, the palace released official guidelines for how to interact with the royal family’s official social media accounts.
In a statement Monday, the palace says: “We ask that anyone engaging with our social media channels shows courtesy, kindness and respect for all other members of our social media communities.”
