See inside huge new Morrisons store finally opening after residents' decade long wait
Morrisons has opened a huge new store after a decade-long wait for residents.
Homeowners on the huge Great Park estate in Newcastle’s West have been campaigning for years to bring a supermarket to the town after promises from developers were left unanswered.
Residents moved into the mega estate with thousands of homes from as early as 2008 and were told to expect 18 retail units, a supermarket, pub and landscaped areas.

But calls for a supermarket to open at the development have gone unanswered until now as retail giant Morrisons finally opened a new site on Thursday (March 30).
The new 20,000 sq ft store has created more than 100 new full and part time jobs.
Ian Brocklehurst, Morrisons' Great Park Store Manager, said: “We know the residents of Great Park have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this store.
