See Emma Corrin in Princess Diana's wedding dress in season four of The Crown

From Harper's BAZAAR

Netflix has released a first look at Emma Corrin in Princess Diana's wedding dress. The actress plays the late royal in season four of The Crown.

The streaming service shared a preview image on the show's official Twitter account, revealing that the costume designer - Emmy award-winning Amy Roberts - wanted to "capture the same spirit" of the original bridal gown, rather than making an exact replica.

Princess Diana's bridal gown was created by David and Elizabeth Emmanuel. Roberts' version of the dress features a similar voluminous silhouette, with the same style of puff sleeves and frilled, bow-festooned neckline. Corrin also sports a similar cathedral-length veil, as well as an imitation of Diana's famed hairstyle.

Diana and Charles were married in 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. Their engagement and wedding will form a key storyline in the fourth series of the hit Netflix show, with Charles played by actor Josh O'Connor.

The award-winning drama, which follows the lives of the royal family, will return to screens on 15 November, welcoming new characters including Diana, Princess of Wales and Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson. Olivia Colman returns as the Queen, as does Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip.

Netflix released a teaser trailer of the fourth series last month.

"Something as important as the monarchy cannot be allowed to fail," Olivia Colman says as Queen Elizabeth in the 30-second preview.
