One does wonder how celebrities manage to stay in skyscraper heels for hours on end. Turns out they don’t.

Celebrity stylist Eizabeth Saltzman has just revealed a major secret that will make all of us normal folk breathe a sigh of relief.

Underneath those red carpet gowns is not a designer shoe but a wedged flip-flop, allowing Hollywood stars to dance the night away.

Of course, Elizabeth’s A-list clients (including Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman and Saoirse Ronan) have to don their Louboutins and Jimmy Choos for the paparazzi photos. But as soon as the after party arrives, the talent kicks off their uncomfortable heels and throws on a pair of Saltzman’s ingenious creations.

“It all started at the Vanity Fair Oscars party where everyone took their shoes off in agony by 9pm,” she told The Telegraph. “I ended up buying simple wedgie flip-flops and customising them for my girls so that after the awards ceremony, they could put them on under their long dresses.”

“I ended up wearing them and then really wearing them. Everyone kept asking me where I got them. I thought: ‘What? That’s what people are stopping me about at fashion shows?'”

The stylist has just launched a series of these clever shoes in collaboration with Rocket Dog. Wedge flip-flops hardly sound appealing but prepare for your mind to be blown.

The six-piece ESXRD collection (costing £90 each) comes in sumptuous velvet and high-quality leather with rainbow stripes and monochrome colours ensuring you stand out from the crowd.

In fact, Elizabeth’s designs are so good that they don’t have to be hidden away under floor-length gowns. A pearl-encrusted pair looks straight off the runway when combined with a sporty midi dress.

Time we stopped thinking of celebrities as alien-like beings and started realising they’re human too.
