When is Vikings: Valhalla season three expected to be released?

Currently, the season three release date has not yet been announced. However, back in June, it was reported that filming had officially begun for the third instalment. So, while fans await the next eight eps - which were filmed in County Wicklow, Ireland, as is season three - at least there's confirmation that it's in production.

Plus, with season one dropping last Feb, and the new series coming out around the same time a year later, we can only anticipate that the turnaround will be similar. So mark January 2024 in your diary for potentially more episodes.

Who might star in Vikings: Valhalla season three?

We know that season two will be led by original cast members Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson.

There'll also be four new main characters, including Merlin star Bradley James who'll play Harekr, the ruler of a legendary Viking settlement called Jómsborg. There's also actor Hayat Kamille who'll portray a renowned astronomer, Mariam.

Marcin Dorociński will play Yaroslav the Wise, the ruler of Kyivan Rus and Sofya Lebedeva will play a fourth new character called Eleana, the daughter of a noble Kyivan Rus person.

While these four new additions plus the original three are definitely going to be seen in season two's new episodes, it's unknown as to whether they'll make it to season three.

(But considering Leif, Freydís and Harald are major players in the series, it's likely they'll be recast for the remaining eight eps.)

However, there has been one actor who has been confirmed to play a major role in season three - Amazon's The Boys star, Goran Visnjic. He will portray Erik the Red, the Viking father of Leif and Freydis. Expected to make his debut in 2024, his storyline will reportedly explore his character who was exiled to Greenland for committing crimes in Norway and Iceland.
