Filmed in December 2020, Lock still had his trademark wit as he said: “I’m Sean Lock. You may know me as that bloke off the telly whose name you can’t remember.”

He then celebrates the work of Edible London, who had helped provide ingredients for a million meals to help those struggling in lockdown.

Encouraging viewers to donate to the crowdfunder, Lock informed viewers that 50p could help provide a meal to someone in need.

Jon Richardson, who was the opposing team captain to Lock on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, also praised his friend, saying in tribute: “I idolised Sean as a comic long before I became a comedian myself and ten years working alongside him didn’t diminish that in the least. An incredible comic brain and a truly unique voice.

“I’m devastated for his family today and sad for comedy that we have lost one of the very best. Undisputed, undefeated, carrot in a box champion. I will miss him.
