Sean Bean and Nicola Walker to star in intimate BBC drama Marriage
Two of the nation's best talents Sean Bean and Nicola Walker will star in BBC One's intimate new drama Marriage, from the award-winning creator of Mum.
The four-part series will follow married couple Ian (Bean) and Emma (Walker) negotiate the ups and downs of their 30 year marriage, with the BBC describing it as "an up-close portrait of a marriage, sometimes funny, sometimes moving, always revealing".
We see them dealing with the insecurities, the ambiguities, the hopes and the fears that are part of all marriages as the drama explores the risks and the gifts of a long-term intimate relationship.
In a statement, Sean Bean said: "I’m thrilled to be playing opposite the talented Nicola Walker and I’m looking forward to bringing Stefan’s intimate scripts to the screen."
Nicola Walker commented: "This is a unique project. Stefan has created such a beautiful, funny and complicated world and I’m excited to be stepping into Ian and Emma’s marriage with Sean."
Mum and Him and Her writer and director Stefan Golaszewski added: "It's amazing to get to work with Sean and Nicola. They're actors of such depth, truth and warmth and I can't wait to go on this journey with them."
Executive Producer Beth Willis also described Golaszewski's script as "an exquisite observation of marriage is funny, warm and searingly honest".
Filming and additional cast members will announced soon.
Earlier this year, Bean starred in BBC One's acclaimed drama Time opposite Stephen Graham, which is available to stream now on iPlayer. Walker will reprise her role as divorce lawyer Hannah Stern in BBC One's hit legal drama The Split for its third and final season, airing soon.
