Following her TV presenter husband of 27 years coming out as gay last week, Steph Schofield has vowed to stick by Phillip Schofield during this "difficult" time for the family.

The This Morning host publicly announced that he was gay on Friday (7 February) by sharing a statement on social media and appearing on the ITV show to discuss his important decision.

In the days since, Phil's actions have been celebrated by colleagues, fans and fellow entertainment figures.

Showing her solidarity, Steph has now told The Sun that she'll remain by Phil's side, "holding his hand".

"I love Phillip, as much today as I ever have, and always will," she revealed.

"We've been awestruck by the strength and love of our precious girls [Molly and Ruby], even as they've been trying to make sense of it all for themselves. Our family have also been so supportive and will help us going forward."

Steph continued: "Although this is difficult for us all, I support Phillip in taking this brave step. I will still be there, holding his hand. Everyone should be proud to live their own truth."
