Sarah Jessica Parker shares rare photo of her son ahead of his graduation
Sarah Jessica Parker has a lot of feelings about her 18-year-old son, James, reaching a major life milestone.
The 56-year-old Sex and the City star took to Instagram on Friday to share a moving tribute to James (and a rare picture of her son—albeit from behind) in honour of his high school graduation.
"Into the sunset of his High School career," she wrote. "Field day. The period at the end of a long sentence. And all the sunrises and sunsets in his future. It's a milestone. Not fully understood til it's on your doorstep. And til they cross the threshold into their next mostly mysterious chapter. Just like all the other chapters that are part of the epic novel that is the story of child and parent.
"We, all of us Parker-Brodericks are proud, weepy and so looking forward to celebrating your coming graduation. Enjoy this beautiful day, you have earned it. We love you so dear Son and brother. X, Mama."
SJP has always made it clear just how important being there for her kids' milestones is to her. In a 2004 interview with Oprah—when James was just one year old—the actress opened up about motherhood and the importance of being a hands-on mom.
"I want to be home with the boy and spend time with him," she said at the time. "I want to take him to school. I don't want to be a parent who just hears about some milestone in his life."
