Over the weekend, new parents Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank announced they had named their newborn son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, and shared an official photo of their bundle of joy.

The picture, captured by their "wonderful midwife", showed Jack cradling baby August, who was holding on to Eugenie's finger as he slept. He was wrapped in a blue blanket and wore a matching blue hat.

Proud grandmother Sarah Ferguson has now reacted to the happy news on social media, describing August as a "beautiful blessing and a bringer of such love", while affirming that Eugenie and Jack will be "wonderful parents".

Reposting Eugenie and Jack's lovely family photo, Sarah added the caption: "As Grandparents, The Duke and I are thrilled and blessed at the arrival of our grandson August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

"He is a beautiful blessing and a bringer of such love and joy to all our Family. I am so proud of Jack and Eugenie, they are and will be wonderful parents."

Eugenie also revealed on her Instagram Stories that they had named their son after five of their grandparents, including Prince Philip.

Eugenie and Jack welcomed August, the Queen's ninth great-grandchild, who is 12th in line to the throne, on 9th February at 8:55am at the Portland Hospital in central London. After the announcement, the royal later to Instagram to share a sweet photo of the family of three holding hands. She captioned the photo with three blue hearts.

Eugenie married Brooksbank in October 2018, at St George's Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle. She announced she was pregnant with their first child last September.
