The happy news was shared this morning by the official Royal Family social media channels, with a post that read: "👶 Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."
One family member who's surely over-the-moon is Beatrice's mum, Sarah Ferguson, not least because she seems to be loving life as a grandma already, after the birth of Princess Eugenie's son August earlier this year.
According to Hello! magazine, during an online event with book store Waterstones, Fergie shared a cute detail about her bond with baby August, who was born in February.
"August already thinks I'm funny because I'm dancing," she said.
The Waterstones event was focused on new children's book Once Upon a Mermaid's Tail, and Sarah spoke about the joy of reading with August.
"Being a grandmother, I can bring mermaid Oceanne to my grandson," she added.
Dancing? Tick. Reading? Tick. Sound like Fergie has got this fun grandma thing down to a T. We're sure she can't wait for Beatrice's little one to be born and join in with the lovely family activities.
While we wait for the newest royal babies to arrive (plural, of course, because Harry and Meghan are also expecting a new arrival soon), Eugenie is kindly treating us to some glimpses of life with August. Spoiler: it's all extremely adorable.
Earlier this month, Eugenie shared two brand new photographs of her tiny son, in celebration of husband Jack Brooksbank's birthday. In the first snap, August can be seen wearing a cardigan embroidered with his name and in the second, Jack is holding his son in a carrier against his chest, with the pair looking all cosy.
Congratulations to Grandma Fergie!
