Sarah Ferguson makes candid comments about 'terrifying' Prince Philip

Sarah Ferguson has spoken about her relationship with her former father-in-law, Prince Philip.

Relations between the pair became strained following the end of Sarah's ten-year marriage to Prince Andrew in 1996. Check out their unusual love story in the video below...

It's widely thought that Philip went out of his way to avoid interacting with Sarah after the split, and the pair kept their distance for a number of years.

Now Sarah has opened up about the fractured bond while speaking to chat show host Alan Carr on the latest episode of his Life's A Beach podcast.

According to the Daily Mail, when asked if Philip was a wise man, she replied: "Yes, very wise. You had to be on your best. If you asked a silly comment, you were certainly told it was a silly comment."

She continued: "Terrifying. 'Why are you asking me that? I do it every day. Why are you asking me that?' Urgh! And then you lose all confidence.

"'Did you go driving today?' 'Car or horse?' Oh god, sorry. Yes.'"

The Duchess added: "The Duke Of Edinburgh used to say, 'Remember Sarah, you’ve got to be electable but never elected.’ Nice. Yes. Resonates, right?”

While her relationship with Philip was strained, Sarah did remain close to the Queen.

In a recent interview with HELLO!, she reflected on the monarch and how she had shaped her life.

"The Queen was obviously the biggest influence; it was the privilege of my life to have her as my mother-in-law. She was the most extraordinary example of duty, loyalty and steadfastness both as head of state and as a private individual," she shared.

"As I have said before, I will always be grateful that she stayed close to me even after my divorce. I miss her hugely."

Prince Philip passed away on 9 April in 2021 at the age of 99. His wife of 73 years, Her Majesty the Queen, died on 8 September 2022 aged 96.
