The family of missing woman, Sarah Everard, have paid a loving tribute to the 33-year-old marketing executive. This comes following the arrest of a serving Met Police officer, who has been detained on the suspicion of kidnap and murder, along with a separate earlier accusation of indecent exposure. Human remains have been discovered in a woodland during the search for Sarah, but have yet to be formally identified.

Sarah's family released their statement, which describes her as "kind, thoughtful, caring and dependable", through the Met. It reads: "Our beautiful daughter Sarah was taken from us and we are appealing for any information that will help to solve this terrible crime.

"Sarah was bright and beautiful - a wonderful daughter and sister. She was kind and thoughtful, caring and dependable. She always put others first and had the most amazing sense of humour."

It continues on to say that Sarah was "strong and principled and a shining example to us all. We are very proud of her and she brought so much joy to our lives." The family also thanked their circle of support during this incredibly difficult time, praising Sarah's friends for working "tirelessly".

"We would like to thank our friends and family for all their support during this awful time and we would especially like to thank Sarah’s friends who are working tirelessly to help."

They also continued to urge anybody who may have any information about her disappearance to come forward and get in touch with the police, noting that no piece of information is too small.

Sarah's family also thanked the police for their hard work."We are so grateful to the police and would like to thank them for all they are doing. We are now pleading for additional help from the public.

"Please come forward and speak to the police if you have any information. No piece of information is too insignificant. Thank you."

Sarah's disappearance has sparked an important, wider conversation about the feelings of fear that women frequently experience while walking home alone and what men can do to help alleviate those fears.

Our thoughts are with all of Sarah's loved ones during this very sad time.

Police invite anyone who has seen Sarah or who has information that may assist the investigation to call the Incident Room on 0208 785 8244, or via the Major Incident Portal.
