Filming for the last season of Game of Thrones ended (emotionally, for Kit Harrington) a couple of weeks back now, but intel has been seriously thin on the ground. However, according to Sophie Turner, the eighth season of Game of Thrones will see a Sansa Stark who is "empowered" and "has the strength of her family behind her".

When we first meet Sansa in season eight she is "a real, true leader of Winterfell," Turner told Digital Spy. She said Sansa has grown from being a bit of a frosty child into "this steely, strong, manipulative, intelligent, kind, young woman".

Turner also said that she felt fans had warmed to Sansa over the last seven seasons, having "really loathed" her in early seasons.

"It's interesting, because it really wouldn't have made Sansa the Sansa she is today had she not gone through those things, and had been subjected to so much torture and trauma. It's made her the strong, passionate woman that she is," Turner said.

It seems like quite an unfair way for Sansa to have had to earn fans' respect - a trial by ice and fire, if you like - but it might all come in handy when it starts hitting the fan come the season finale.
