There's an exciting new series to get stuck into, as Netflix's The Sandman *just* dropped on the streaming platform (5th August). Fans have already found themselves gripped by the new fantasy horror, with many already calling for a season two.

Adapted from Neil Gaiman's graphic novel, The Sandman's official synopsis reads: "A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he's made during his vast existence."

Yep, there's some dark stuff going on, and viewers are keen to see what happens next in a potential second series. Here's what we know about The Sandman season two so far...

Has The Sandman season 2 been confirmed?

Netflix unfortunately hasn't confirmed The Sandman season two just yet. However, series one *did* only just drop as of 5th August, so there's plenty of time for a second series to be announced. Judging by the show's popularity so far, we'd hope this one gets the go ahead - and there's plenty more plot to explore too.

Who might star in The Sandman season 2?

Of course, if series two happens, it wouldn't be anything without the show's core cast. Names we'd expect to return include Tom Sturridge as Morpheus, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar.

Then there's Mason Alexander Park and Donna Preston as Desire and Despair, plus Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, and Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine.

Depending on where the plot takes us, there could well be some new faces joining the case too. Watch this space.

When might The Sandman season 2 be released?

We'll have to wait for The Sandman season two to be confirmed before there's any intel on a release date.

Season one was first announced all the way back in 2019, only premiering on Netflix in August 2022. However, there were pandemic delays to take into account - so we'd hope production would be faster on a potential season two. Fingers crossed for more updates soon!
