This same-sex couple just became the world's first to carry a baby in both their wombs

From Cosmopolitan

A same-sex couple based in England has become the first in the world to carry their baby in both their wombs. The little boy, Otis, was born to parents Donna and Jasmine Francis-Smith back in October. And he’s absolutely adorable!

The shared motherhood procedure – which involved the embryo first being incubated by Donna, with Jasmine then giving birth to the child – was carried out at London’s Women Clinic, using technology from a Swiss fertility company.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK Donna said, "We are so joyous to have our beautiful baby boy in our lives and are grateful for all that the clinic had to offer us.

"The treatment can benefit so many people – not just same sex couples. Science is a magical thing."

We firmly agree!

As amazing as the news about their beautiful family is, Donna admits online trolls have sadly taken away some of the joy away from the announcement. "The response to our story was very mixed," she explains. "We had a lot of positive comments but alongside that came negativity.

"We were initially very happy when the story came out but unfortunately negative comments and trolls online have taken away [some of the joy of this] extraordinary new breakthrough in IVF."

Nevertheless, it's onwards and upwards for the trio. Asked what the family’s plan for Christmas was, Donna – who married Jasmine in 2014 after they met on an online dating site – says, "As we do every year we will be spending Christmas with our families. But this Christmas will be even more special with Otis here."

So sweet!
