Wimbledon has retained its crown as July’s best celebrity hotspot, as celebrities ranging from Salma Hayek to Richard Osman were spotted in the stands on day seven of the tennis tournament.

Among the many celebrities at the event, Salma Hayek was spotted in the stands with her husband François-Henri Pinault. The 56-year-old cozied up to her husband in the Royal Box at Centre Court to watch the day’s games sets and matches. They were joined by Bake Off legend Mary Berry and TV presenter and murder mystery writer Richard Osman in their exclusive box.

Richard Osman, who also presents a podcast with Marina Hyde, just started filming the film adaptation of his bestselling novel The Thursday Murder Club. The film is being directed by none other than Harry Potter director Christopher Columbus, and has a truly all-star cast including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celie Imrie and David Tennant.

Also there on July 7 were Peep Show legend Sophie Winkleman with her husband Lord Frederick Winsor, as well as former England captain John Terry and his wife Toni, continuing the theme of England players spotted at Wimbledon as Peter Crouch had been there the day before with his wife Abbey Clancy and their daughter.

Olympian Adam Peaty also visited the event earlier in July, alongside his girlfriend Holly Ramsey. Other Olympians Jessica Ennis, Rebecca Adlington and Ben Ainslie were also spotted at the tournament sitting in the prestigious Royal Box.

Day 7 of Wimbledon saw several nail-biting matches including defending champion Carlos Alcaraz playing Ugo Humbert and British tennis star Emma Raducanu playing Lulu Sun. Last scheduled to play on Centre Court for July 7 is US Open champion Coco Gauff against another American, Emma Navarro.

Emma sadly had to withdraw from her mixed doubles match with tennis legend Sir Andy Murray citing wrist stiffness, seeing an end to his Wimbledon career after he lost his men’s doubles match with his brother Jamie.

The two-time Wimbledon champion was unable to compete in the men’s singles division after being unable to fully recover from a surgery. He had a cyst removed from close to his spine which was causing nerve pain in his right leg, and still did not feel fully well enough to compete alone. He has said he will retire from the sport after competing in the Paris Olympics.

So far in 2024 there have been no viral celebrity moments, unlike in 2023 when pop-star Ariana Grande was photographed in the stands at Wimbledon without her wedding ring, sparking rumours of a split from her husband, Dalton Gomez.
