Saira Khan has shared pictures of her "bionic ankle" after fracturing it while filming Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The former Loose Women panellist withdrew from the gruelling reality show on Sunday night's episode after fracturing her ankle during a mud wrestle with Ulrika Jonsson, and she has revealed on Instagram that she now has a "bionic ankle" as a metal plate and pins were inserted during an operation following the incident.

"I tried my very best, but in the end, I had to be honest with myself. I was in pain and didn't want to let the other's (sic) down. I was dragging behind and I felt I was being a burden," she wrote in the caption beside a photo of her scar. "I was in a cast for 12 weeks - but am all mended now.

"I'm proud of my ankle scar because it will always be a reminder of a time I did my very best and pushed myself outside my comfort zone. Thank you @sas_whodareswins for an amazing opportunity which I will remember for life. Thank you all for your amazing support."

She went on to share an X-ray of her new ankle and a photo of it covered in stitches after the surgery, and added, "I’ve never broken a bone in my body and at 51 it was a shock. But to anyone who is suffering with an ankle injury please know you will heal, but rest, keep positive, exercise your upper body and believe in your power to heal."

Khan was one of three celebrities who were medically withdrawn from the show on Sunday's episode, as The X Factor's Jake Quickenden and BMX racer Shanaze Reade also suffered injuries. Vicky Pattison voluntarily withdrew in the same episode.

They follow Jonsson and Kerry Katona, who both withdrew last week.
