Saira Khan is sadly leaving Loose Women after five years on the ITV show, and has now said she would love her replacement to be "either a gay, transgender or non binary person to help the show be more reflective of the world we live in".
The 50-year-old TV presenter said she was stepping down from the panel to focus on her new skin care business and explore other media opportunities, crediting the series for giving her the platform to help her resolve her emotional "baggage".
"I'd love my @loosewomen seat to be given to either a gay, transgender or non binary person - that will help the show to be more reflective of the world we live in. That's what I would do if I was in charge," the former Dancing on Ice star said in a post on Instagram.
Saira bid farewell to the show and her fellow panelists in the Sunday Mirror's Notebook, during which she paid tribute to her "talented" co-presenters, which include Stacey Solomon, Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore and Brenda Edwards.
"I came to the show a troubled soul and I will eternally be grateful for the platform @loosewomen gave me to share, speak up and out," the TV star continued.
"I will miss the great women who have become my very close friends. I feel honoured and privileged to have sat alongside them and learnt from them. It was an honour and a privilege to be part of this iconic show of strong, talented, feisty, honest, opinionated , caring, loving women. Thanks for the opportunities and everlasting friendship and memories.
"Thank you to the amazing audience who have watched and supported me, and now follow me here. You have given me so much love and self confidence, more than you will ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve helped shape me, to become the woman I want to be, moving forward."
Saira's departure follows Andrea McLean's emotional announcement last year that she is leaving Loose Women after 13 years to pursue new opportunities.
Commenting on Saira's post, Andrea said: "You're an incredible woman Saira. I wish you so much luck, love and great things in 202."
Saira has launched an organic and vegan skincare business called Saira Skin.
Good luck, Saira!
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
