Rylan Clark-Neal has said he blames himself for the breakdown of his marriage and is "seeking help".

The 32-year-old TV presenter has broken his silence after a month-long absence from the spotlight — including his Radio 2 Saturday afternoon show — amid reports he has split from husband Dan Neal after six years of marriage.

Clark-Neal said in a statement to The Sun: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out - as the way it is being reported is unfair.

He went on: “I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.

“I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time.”

The former X Factor contestant and Big Brother presenter has not presented his BBC Radio 2 show since 8 May, and pulled out of hosting the Eurovision semi-final live TV coverage at the last minute, citing illness.

He has been absent from social media since 9 May, having previously announced he was taking a break due to negative comments.

His absence was also confirmed ahead of the latest series of Celebrity Gogglebox due to the ill health of his mother Linda, who usually appears with him. The 68-year-old has Crohn's disease, a condition which causes inflammation in the stomach lining.

Clark-Neal — who is known for hosting Strictly: It Takes Two as well as gameshow revivals Supermarket Sweep and Ready Steady Cook — married ex-police officer Dan in November 2015 after being engaged for a year. Clark took on Neal's surname after they wed.

The couple met when Dan was a contestant on Big Brother in 2013. Clark-Neal became the host of Big Brother's Bit On The Side on Channel 5 that series, having won Celebrity Big Brother at the beginning of the year.

The couple co-hosted ITV's This Morning in 2016, standing in for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford and becoming the first gay couple to host the show.

Clark-Neal has a 20-year-old stepson Cameron, Dan's child from a previous relationship.

Clark-Neal had made several appearances on reality TV — including as a finalist in Katie Price's modelling series Signed By Katie Price in 2011 — before finding fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2012.
