TV star Rylan Clark-Neal has confessed his own "mistakes" led to the breakdown of his six year marriage to his husband, Dan Neal.
The This Morning and BBC Radio 2 presenter, who has been absent from the airwaves amid his personal troubles, addressed his love split in a statement to The Sun - taking full responsibility for the breakdown of the relationship.
He decided to speak out to correct reports he claimed had been misleading about the reasons for his and Dan's breakup.
"Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out - as the way it is being reported is unfair," he said. "I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."
The star, who rose to fame after appearing on The X Factor in 2012, went on to say that he is seeking help for personal problems.
"I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help," he added. "I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time."
Sources told The Sun that TV chiefs are sticking by Rylan and he will return to screens as soon as he has dealt with his issues.
"Rylan's one of the most beloved people on TV so fans will be sad to hear what has happened," one insider added. "He often spoke of their relationship on air and they even co-hosted an episode of This Morning but unfortunately things haven't worked out.
"They don't want to discuss it in public and a bit of time off is probably for the best for now."
Rylan moved from eccentric X Factor hopeful to beloved TV star after winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2013. His success on the show led to a presenting gig on Big Brother's Bit on the Side that year - where he met Dan, a contestant on that year's non-celebrity edition. They married in 2015.
