Ryan Reynold shouts out Blake Lively in sweet acceptance speech
Ryan Reynolds took off his trolling hat for once to shout out wife Blake Lively in a sweet way, calling her a 'genius' who pushes him to be his best.
The famous couple are no strangers to be a bit of public interaction, and often take to social media to poke fun at each other. Whether's it's about her choice of shoes or his famous friends, fans are often treated to little in-jokes from Blake and Ryan.
But it was his acceptance speech that caught fans' attention last night [2 August 2021] thanks to the sweet things he said about her. The Deadpool actor was honoured as the Entertainment and Entrepreneurship Innovator at the The WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards.
In his acceptance speech, Ryan said, "I want to thank my wife, Blake. She is a genius. She's a renaissance woman. And she pushes me in ways I never imagined I'd be pushed."
He then joked that the latter comment sounded like something that police should be involved in. For their November issue, Ryan also touched on how he has often pushed himself professionally, which has had a knock on effect for his mental health.
"I tend to bite off way more than I could or should chew," he shared. "I fixate on things. That's sort of the engine of anxiety. I lay awake at night, wrapping and unwrapping every possible scenario. I slept at a perfect right angle for so many years. I tend to pave over anxiety with work and, to a lesser extent, achievement. You want to tick boxes sometimes."
Ryan concluded, "These days, my goal is to be as present as I can and not just tick a box just to do it. I'm fully embracing and living that right now. It's been amazing."
Ryan and Blake got married in 2012 and share three daughters; James, six, and Inez, four and Betty, two.
