Ruth Langsford is a staple of the small screen and has been welcomed into the living rooms of millions over the years, regularly presenting the likes of This Morning and Loose Women.
Warm and down-to-earth, it's the personal touch to Ruth's presenting which makes her feel like a trusted friend and confidant to the nation, despite many of us only ever greeting her through the TV screen.
Accruing a cool one million trusted followers on Instagram alone, Ruth regularly shares insights into her life, from behind-the-scenes of work projects and roast dinners with her mum, to her workout routines and fashion looks.
And it's the latter which has earned Ruth her very own clothing collection with QVC, bringing her trademark style to the public by designing her own range, including a selection of winter pieces for the festive period.
We sat down with Ruth to find out more about her favourite fashion picks of the season from her range and exactly what goes into creating her collection.
But first, we wanted to know what Ruth loved best about the most wonderful time of the year…
What's your favourite thing about the Christmas period?
It's time off, time at home, relaxing with family because I'm so busy normally, I don't get a lot of time at home. And if truth be told, I'm a bit of a home bird so I just like to be at home.
And what do you love most about festive fashion?
I think it gives us all the chance to get dressed up and put a bit of sparkle on but also to have some lovely loungewear and pyjamas when we're chilling out at home.
We have been loving your fashion range with QVC! Which details did you want to make sure were included in your Christmas pieces?
A bit of sparkle. I've done a beautiful sequinned jacket and it’s two-tone. I wanted to create a beautiful, timeless sequin jacket that you can bring out year after year and it will always look fabulous instead of classic black, which is often my default setting. I did a combination of black and bronze. And it's absolutely beautiful.
What are the most important considerations you keep in mind whenever you're working on a new addition to the range?
Something stylish, obviously, but comfort is always a top consideration for me too. You can buy something that's fabulous but if you're uncomfortable in it all night - what's the point? Of course I want to be fashionable but everything has to have a bit of stretch!
What would be your go-to look for a Christmas party?
I love a tuxedo suit. And I have a beautiful, beaded jacket in my range. And it's so comfortable and stretchy but looks sparkly and fabulous.
For jewellery, you can't go wrong with some with a piece from Diamonique. I defy anyone to tell the difference between that and real diamonds!
Which glam look will you be wearing from your collection this Christmas?
I will be wearing my sequin tunic top. Which is very elegant and sparkly and will take you to any event; Christmas day at home or Christmas Eve drinks with friends or a Boxing Day party. It stretches, is comfortable and it’s elegant.
How will you be doing your makeup differently over the festive period?
I always think it's nice to add a little bit of shimmer with your Christmas makeup. I tend to go for a metallic eyeshadow.
What will your cosy Christmas outfit look like?
I'll be spending a lot of time in my Haachi leisurewear. It’s beautifully soft and comfortable, but still looks elegant if unexpected guests knock on the door.
Which piece from your collection are you most proud of and why?
My denim jacket. It's one of the most popular pieces in my range. And that's because it's so COMFORTABLE! I never think you're too old for a denim jacket. We're just too old for an uncomfortable denim jacket. Mine is lightweight, stretchy, and super stylish.
Has your festive style changed over the years?
Not really to be honest. I think Christmas to me, just says sparkle. Whether you're 21 or 101.
Do you have a style icon who will always look fab in Christmas/New Year fashion?
My style icon is Dame Helen Mirren. I love that I’m never sure what I’m going to see her in next. She can switch easily from a fabulous designer evening gown, to jeans and trainers and a white t-shirt and always look stunning.
I love how she plays with fashion and is never afraid to embrace new style. I particularly loved her pink hair phase.
What's at the top of your Christmas list this year?
A spa day somewhere fabulous, where I don't have to lift a finger!
