Ruth Langsford has broken her silence after her split from Eamonn Holmes was announced over the weekend, with the TV personality taking to Instagram on Tuesday (28 May) with her first post since the news.

Recording a clip from home, Ruth caught up on Rylan's BBC show Grand Tour with Rob Rinder, and penned an emotional tribute to the Rylan as she filmed the TV. Ruth wrote: "Just catching up with my TV son @rylan & @robrinder Grand Tour….LOVE this show! Educational, funny, poignant….such a beautiful friendship. Please have a watch if you haven’t already."

Rylan, who has often referred to Ruth and Eamonn as his 'Showbiz parents', commented several heart emojis on the post. The former CBB winner hasn't commented on the split yet, but has previously opened up about how supportive the estranged couple have been of him, visiting him during the darkest moments of his battle with depression in 2022.

And now, with the tables turned, a source told OK! this week: “Rylan was close to both Ruth and Eamonn and owes them both a lot so he doesn’t want to take sides. But he and Ruth have always got on and love a party so Rylan has promised to take Ruth away this summer and make her go wild.

“She’s had a tough few years because of looking after Eamonn and also caring for her mum so he feels she deserves it – he’s desperate to take Ruth clubbing in Ibiza!”

Ruth and Eamonn revealed via a spokesperson on Saturday 25 May that they were divorcing - after 14 years of marriage and 27 together. The joint statement read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The estranged couple met in 1997 after being introduced by a mutual friend and went on to marry in Hampshire in 2010, now sharing a 21 year old son, Jack. The confirmation of their divorce followed on from rumours about the couple, who haven't been pictured together in months.

While Eamonn addressed the news on Tuesday as he took to his GB News show, thanking fans for their support.

Appearing on the show after a bank holiday weekend off, Eamonn briefly addressed his personal life, sharing: "Just before we move on I'd like to thank people for their support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."
