Ruth Jones revealed her dream role would be to play a certain Royal Family member in a series of The Crown.

Ruth was responding to a question by an audience member at her talk for Good Housekeeping Live, in partnership with Dyson, on Saturday (15 October).

“I always wanted to be in The Crown because I always thought I would make a really wonderful Princess Margaret and I actually wrote to the casting director – she didn’t reply,” laughed Ruth. “The two actresses who do play her, I thought they did an amazing job but yes, I would have loved to have played Princess Margret.”

During the talk with Good Housekeeping’s Editor-in-Chief, Gaby Huddart, Ruth also discussed her new book, Love Untold, which follows four women across a multi-generational family.

Ruth said that one of the main characters, Grace, was partly inspired by her own mum, Hannah Jones, and even dedicated the book to her.

The author said that she and her mum go on road trips together around Wales “like Thelma and Louise” and admitted she had picked up on some of her mum’s habits from over the years. One of them being the use of phrases such as, “well that’s ridiculous!” in a stronger Welsh accent.
