RuPaul is known for sassy remarks and cutting one-liners, but the Drag Race UK head judge apologised for taking things a liiiittle too far on last night's show.

The second series of the drag queen talent show is airing on BBC Three every Thursday. Last night's episode featured the return of Joe Black, who was initially booted off in week one, after Veronica Green was forced to pull out of the competition due to coronavirus.

For this week's maxi-challenge, the queens were challenged with The RuRuvision Song and split into two separate super-groups. But after Joe revealed to Michelle that her costume for the show was from a high-street shop, Ru let rip during the critique.

"That outfit off the rack was a huge disappointment to me," Ru told Joe Black. "That’s what everyday people do, and you should know that because you are a star. This goes to all of you up here: if it is from [the high street] then you better glitter the f*** out of it and make it something special.

"We’re looking for Great Britain’s Next Superstar, don’t waste my time. I don’t wanna see any f***ing [high street]. What say you, Joe Black?"

When Joe explained that her other looks were "too old looking", Ru fired back, "I came all the way across the pond. I want more. Is that asking for too much? I don’t think so. It’s the biggest stage for drag in the world. This is the Eurovision of drag."

Later, following judge deliberations, Ru apologised to the Queens and to Joe for her earlier outrage. "I want you to know that if I was little too hard on you earlier, it’s because I see so much potential in each of you. And if nothing else, these times have taught us to seize the day. Carpe diem, darling!"

Ru continued, "Look around you, look at the past winners, look at what you are doing right now and make it happen. Plus, Mama Ru was locked up in quarantine for two weeks, so that might have a little something to do with it…"

In the end, Joe ended up sashaying away for a second time, after losing out in a dance off to Tia Kofi. Eek.
