Rules You Didn't Know 'Great British Bake Off' Contestants Have to Follow

You have to apply online.

You have to meet an age requirement.

You must be a resident of the U.K.

You have to be very detailed in your application.

You have to pass the interview round.

Your food has to pass a test.

You have to pay for the ingredients for your interview.

You have to test in front of the camera too.

You'll be contacted if you're accepted.

You must be available for every filming date.

You must commit to filming 'The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice.'

You can't have any connection to the show's network.

You can't be a professional baker.

You must undergo a background check.

You get limited time to prepare for the competition.

You must sign a release form.

You must keep certain things confidential.

No phones are allowed.

Cameras are strictly off-limits too.

You aren't paid to appear on the show.

The champion doesn’t receive prize money either.

You are given an allowance.

You must stay in the same hotel as the other bakers.

You have to rewear clothes for filming.

You have to film over the weekend.

You have to film for most of the day.

You must be in the tent by 7 a.m.

The ovens are checked every day.

All oven shots must be caught on camera.

You don't have to do your own shopping.

You don't have to do any dishes.

You can't have any help during the competition.

You must adapt to weather challenges.

You must wait at your station during judging.

After judging, you have to give an interview.

Every dish gets a close-up.

You have to be patient while judges deliberate.

You are only judged on the present day's dish.

You aren't allowed to socialize with the judges.

You get to eat your finished product.
