Prince Charles’s former press secretary is spilling the tea on the royal’s relationship with wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Charles Anson reveals that the couple, who married in 2005, are the perfect balance for one another.
According to Anson, the 71-year-old Duchess of Cornwall “kind of jollies” her husband, and “doesn’t let him get too overburdened by the woes of the world.”
“She’s got a good philosophy about life: There are things you can change, other things you can’t change . . . Don’t get too hung up about it,” he revealed to the magazine.
Anson worked for the now 69-year-old Prince of Wales from 1990 to 1996, a turbulent period for the prince who endured a very public and very messy divorce from Princess Diana.
As for the couple’s future, Anson believes that Camilla will be “great” as Queen Consort when Charles ascends the British throne, a sentiment echoed by Charles himself.
In “The Real Camilla: HRH the Duchess of Cornwall” a made-for television documentary, Charles extolled his wife’s virtues, saying, “She has a wonderful way with people that is what is special about her…She is remarkable really, she is the best listener in the world and can get anything out of anyone.”
