Over the weekend, Prince William proved that he really is just one of us after he posted an awkward photo of himself to Instagram. In the pic, which he shared with his 13 million followers, the Duke of Cambridge can be seen poking his head out of the front door to his home, Kensington Palace, while TV presenters Dermot O'Leary and Clara Amfo are laughing on the steps outside. He asked fans to caption the photo, and it's safe to say the suggestions are down right hilarious.

"I can come out - but not till after tea!" commented one follower, while another Instagram user suggested "You’re not my Uber eats…" A third fan said "When you get caught playing knock a door run," with someone else writing "You’ve made it to the X Factor boot camp!"

The photo clearly went down a treat with Royal fans, as the post has already racked up nearly half a million likes, and over 4000 comments too.

Shortly after sharing the photo, the Duke of Cambridge shared another post featuring the two TV presenters. The short clip offered a teaser for the BBC's upcoming Earthshot Prize Awards – which, according to the Earthshot website "is the most ambitious and prestigious [prize] of its kind – designed to incentivise change and help to repair our planet over the next ten years."

Speaking about the prize, which he launched in October of last year, Prince William said: "The Earth is at a tipping point and we face a stark choice: either we continue as we are and irreparably damage our planet, or we remember our unique power as human beings and our continual ability to lead, innovate and problem-solve. People can achieve great things. The next ten years present us with one of our greatest tests – a decade of action to repair the Earth."

As well as helping promote the Award and the hard work of its finalists, the Royal also wrote a personal introduction for the Earthshot: How to Save our Planet book. Over the years, Prince William has made tackling climate change and environmental issues a priority, and has often spoken publicly about his passion for this. Just last month [via Sky News], he announced his reason for teaming up with Earthshot is so that he can "children in the eye" and say he "did [his] bit" in the fight against climate change.

Watch the first ever Earthshot Awards on BBC One at 8pm on Sunday 17 October.
