The Royal Family are known for their many traditions, particularly when it comes to the festive season. From spending the holidays at the Queen's home in Sandringham to playing charades around not one, but two Christmas trees. One tradition which seemed to go unnoticed by many royal fans this year however, is the Royal Family's annual Stir-up Sunday.

Traditionally, Stir-up Sunday (which is marked each year on the Sunday before the Advent season) is when those prepping for Christmas mix together their pudding ingredients. Taking to Instagram to mark the occasion, the palace's chefs shared a video on how to prep your Christmas pudding in time for the big day (which is still one month and two days away, but you can never be too prepared when it comes to Christmas pudding).

Sharing the video with their 10.3 million followers, the Royal Family said: "Today is Stir-up Sunday: traditionally the day when home cooks 'stir up' their Christmas pudding mixture on the Sunday before the Advent season - and the countdown to Christmas - begins."

The post continued, "This year, chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding. We hope that some of you enjoy making it in your own homes."

The Royal Family's Stir-up Sunday tradition caught plenty of eyes back in 2019, when the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and star-of-the-show Prince George gathered together at Buckingham Palace to stir-up their own Christmas puddings. The Christmas puddings made at the Royal household, which also contained commemorative sixpences, were distributed to those supported by the Royal British Legion.

In a series of photos shared to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's own Instagram account, the four generations looked as happy as ever to share the moment. The caption read: "New photos of The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George have been released as part of the launch of the @RoyalBritishLegion’s 'Together at Christmas' initiative. The initiative is designed to provide extra support to the Armed Forces and veteran communities at annual festive 'get togethers' across the charity’s network of outreach centres."

"The four generations of the Royal Family are pictured here preparing special Christmas puddings — with the four representing a cross-section of those supported by the Legion, from the children of service personnel, to Second World War veterans. The puddings will become the centrepieces of 2020’s get togethers, and form part of 99 puddings distributed across the charity’s network in the UK and the Commonwealth."

Mmmm, now we're hungry for some pudding...
