The Royal Family Shared Their Traditional Boozy Christmas Pudding Recipe So You Can Eat Like A Queen

From Delish

It's not everyday that we get a look inside the life of the Royal Family — no, binge-watching The Crown doesn't count! Today is one of those special days where we get to learn more about the royals and their traditions because the royal family's Twitter account shared a recipe over the weekend for their Christmas pudding so you can recreate it at home.

"Today is #StirupSunday: traditionally the day when home cooks ‘stir up’ their Christmas pudding mixture. This year, chefs in the Royal kitchens have shared their recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding," the tweet read with a short minute-long video accompanying the caption.

A follow-up post shared the list of ingredients needed for the dish which included raisins, currants, sultanas, mixed peel, suet or vegetarian suet, bread crumbs, flour, mixed spice, whole eggs, demerara, sugar, beer, dark rum, and brandy. The exact measurements for the ingredients can be found on the Twitter account.

The recipe essentially involves combining the dry ingredients, adding the eggs and the other liquids, then adding it to greased bowls before steaming them in a deep pot for six hours. Once they're cooled down and finished, you can store them in a cool, dark place until Christmas.

Unlike the "pudding" you may think of in the United States, British pudding is a traditional dessert that can be sweet or savoury. For Christmas, these puddings are often covered with brandy and then set on fire before serving.
