The Royal Family have shared throwbacks of a young Princess Anne

The Royal Family has shared a selection of throwback photographs of Princess Anne over the past 50 years to celebrate five decades of her support for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

In one of the photos, a young Princess Royal can be seen smiling at a girl sitting on a horse during the child's riding lesson.

In another black and white throwback, Princess Anne meets children in wheelchairs who are dressed in riding jackets and hats ready to go horse-riding. Further images show the Princess Royal at a variety of competitions and events throughout her many years of support for the organisation.

The photographs were shared on the official Royal Family social media accounts which explained that Her Royal Highness has been a Patron of the RDA since 1971 and has served as President since 1985.

It added that, “the charity that provides riding and carriage driving opportunities for over 25,000 children and adults.”

In celebration of Princess Anne’s 50 years of support, the charity has launched the new Princess Royal Coaching Academy, which “will enable the RDA to improve learning opportunities for their coaches.”

Members of the public were quick to offer their support for the organisation and Princess Anne’s work over the years.

“Such a great charity,” said one commenter. Another described the Princess Royal as, “a true legend working so hard behind the scenes for so many years without any fuss. Top class lady.”

“Congratulations Your Royal Highness on 50 years!” added another.
