The royal family have shared their congratulations with Prince Harry and Meghan, after their second child was born this weekend.
The couple named the baby girl Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, as a tribute to both the monarch and to Harry's late mother. She was born on 4 June at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, congratulated the Sussex family by posting a sweet black and white image of the Sussexes to their Instagram account.
“We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili,” they wrote. “Congratulations to harry, Meghan and Archie.”
Other royal family members have posted messages for the Sussex family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, who wrote: “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana. Wishing them all well at this time.”
The official Instagram account of the Queen shared: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana. The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news."
Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild and is named after the queen, as Lilibet was her nickname when she was a young girl.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” a statement said. “Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.”
Harry and Meghan already have one child, Archie, who was born on 6 May 2019.
