Rose McGowan has launched a Twitter tirade ahead of tonight’s GQ Awards, taking aim at red carpet dressing and the industry among other issues.

At first, it appeared that McGowan – who explains that she is invited to the prestigious men’s magazine award ceremony this evening – was taking aim with the event’s dress code.

The 45-year-old activist and former actress called out the “cocktail or evening gowns” dress code for women, saying it gives her “Hollywood PTSD”.

McGowan – one of the founders of the #MeToo movement and key whistleblower of Harvey Weinstein – then goes on to discuss her other issues with the industry on a whole, thanking her community of supporters.

McGowan finished her series of tweets by telling Twitter users that she’d be wearing a “robin egg blue sheath dress” by Topshop, an Osman jacket, “scuffed vegan shoes” by Stella McCartney and her “winning smile”.

Tonight, McGowan will be become the first woman to be honoured with a GQ ‘Man of the Year’ award, receiving the ‘Inspiration Award’.

She recently defended the award on ‘Good Morning Britain’, telling Piers Morgan it should not be renamed the ‘Human of the Year’ award and that ‘man’ had not become a dirty word.
