Self-isolation fatigue has well and truly kicked in for most of us now. How many days in a row have I worn these PJs? When did I last take a shower? How many carbs is too many carbs? Did I really spend a whole day watching Netflix and make-up influencers on TikTok?

And with non-essential businesses shutting up shop for the foreseeable, that’s a lot of salon appointments on ice. We acknowledge there are worse things happening in the world than a couple of split ends and some dark roots, but global pandemic or not, we’re still entitled to our hair hang-ups.

And the hair hang-up causing the lowest mood right now?

Roots.

Sure, you could do a Billie Eilish and dye them bright green, or grow them so long they become an ombre. But if you want fresh-as-you-like hair the next time you raise a glass on Houseparty, you'll need to reach for some heavy-duty root cover up.

If J-lo’s lush locks are anything to go by, Color Wow Root Cover Up, £28.50 is the best. Her long-time hairstylist Chris Appleton swears by it for adding depth to an updo (we're assuming she doesn't have any greys to cover considering she DOESN'T AGE!). In other words, this wonder product also helps to fake thickness.

Appleton posted a picture back in October of him dusting it along J-Lo’s hairline, along with the caption: “Always covered with one of my favorites @colorwowhair Root touch up. I use it to blend extensions, make hairlines fuller and even create highlights.👌🏾”

Kardashian hairstylist Jen Atkin is also a fan, according to Allure. “I brush it along the part and around the face and the nape of the neck if I do a bun or ponytail to fill in any exposed scalp,” she told the mag. “It makes your hair appear fuller, especially in photos.”
