Ronan Keating has invited Boris Johnson to meet with him for a talk about the music industry, saying: “I think it’s time we had a chat.”

The Irish singer suggested he and the Prime Minister get together in a park because coronavirus pandemic restrictions means they can’t meet at one of their homes.

Keating reached out after The Independent reported that the government rejected an offer for UK musicians to tour Europe without needing visas post-Brexit, after blaming Brussels for throwing out the deal.

Taking to Twitter, Keating wrote: “It’s unbelievable and unforgivable. Will we see most of the UK artists/musicians leave the UK and live in the EU.”

“Protect the arts in the UK please this current government clearly doesn’t care,” he urged.

Keating, 43, followed it up with another message asking the Prime Minister to meet him for a socially distanced chat.

“Ok @BorisJohnson,” he posted. “I think it’s time we had a chat.

“I can’t come to yours nor can you come to mine.

“But can we meet in a park socially distant and discuss how this government is effecting UK musicians and the arts.”

One person tweeted that Keating may want to get some British artists to state their case with him.

“This is regarding the industry in a country I have been lucky enough to call home for 20 years and the country that allowed an Irish band start a career,” the star replied. “Something I fear may never happen again due to recent government decisions.”

Another person tweeted to say plenty more people would want to be there if Keating and Johnson did meet.

“I’ll find a large park,” the Boyzone star replied.
