Roman Kemp helps parents Martin and Shirlie with home transformation – and they're not impressed
Martin and Shirlie Kemp took on a huge project when they purchased their new home, which requires a total renovation.

They enlisted the help of their son Roman Kemp on Tuesday, but the video revealed that they were not impressed with his builder skills and joked he should stay at his day job with Capital Radio! The clip, posted to the couple's home Instagram account @maisonnumber9, showed Roman wearing a white hard hat as he got stuck into shovelling gravel on the driveway, dropping a nail through a hole in the upstairs floorboards so his dad Martin could catch it, and walking into the show-stopping crystal chandelier that had been hung in what appears to be the dining room.

"I’m so glad @romankemp came over to help this weekend, no threat to @larksbuilds though we didn’t get much done but we did laugh! #building #builders #homerenovationuk #maisonnumber9," Martin and Shirlie wrote. With several clips showing Roman with a bewildered expression as he wandered around the property, we're not surprised.

Their builder joked in the comments, "I thought I’d been made redundant after seeing this!" and another added, "Does he want a job?" to which Martin replied, "Think it’s best he stays @capitalofficial."
The couple announced they had moved into their new home in October
Shirlie announced the exciting news that the couple – who are parents to grown-up children Roman and Harley – had moved into their new property at the end of October after leaving behind their Hertfordshire family home. She said the Victorian property is "in need of a lot of work" but explained that the renovation process is very sentimental to her.
"My father was a builder and I learnt a lot from him about transforming houses. I remember as a little girl I would draw house plans and show my dad and ask him if he would build me a house when I get older. Well my love of houses is still there but sadly my dad isn’t here anymore but his spirit will be around as I bring this lovely house back to life #home #victorianhouse #building #interiors #painting #decor #decoratingtips," Shirlie wrote.

Opening up about the reasons behind the shock move, she explained that she was "looking for a bigger garden" in order to have more animals. She wrote: "When I told people I was moving they all reacted the same way … Why?
"Well, I can't do any more here and I was ready for a change was my reply. I was also looking for a bigger garden as eventually I’d like to rescue more dogs and a few other animals and needed more space. As I said before, I have never been afraid of change, in fact, I welcome it."
