The Rock Shares His Secret to Building a Massive Back for Upcoming 'Black Adam' Role

If his workout schedule is anything to go by, then Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is going to be at another level of strength by the time filming for his new movie Black Adam rolls around.

Yesterday, we saw the chest and triceps workout that the actor had been using to get into superhero shape, and today, Johnson has treated us to some more workout secrets from inside the Iron Paradise, this time sharing how he goes about training his back and biceps.

Having already completed fasted cardio in the morning, Johnson says he moves over to "clanging and banging" with weights in the evening as part of a two-a-day workout structure for his upcoming role.

He explains: "My entire back workout consists of all supersets, so there is a lot of blood and volume being pumped into the muscle, and then I'll transition to biceps." It's a smart way of packing more work into a smaller time frame. Previously, DJ shared a video on Instagram from a chest workout in which he slowed down the tempo to make the most out of the lowering phase of the lift during a dumbbell incline bench press set.

In his Instagram post, DJ also talked about the kind of body he's trying to achieve for his lead role in Black Adam, which is set to hit cinemas in December 2021 . "In terms of the physicality of the character," said Johnson, "I want to raise the bar, the character commands it."
