Spoilers for the ending of Black Adam.
OK, the news is out, and we can finally talk about it: Henry Cavill is Superman again. The future looked murky for the Man of Steel for a while after the incredibly muddled Justice League, but Cavill has officially confirmed that he will once again be donning the famous red cape in an upcoming sequel in DC's extended movie universe.
The announcement came after the actor made a surprise cameo as Superman in a post-credits scene at the end of Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson's solo vehicle which itself was technically a spinoff of Shazam. Following the movie's climactic battle, which saw Black Adam appoint himself the new protector of the realm of Kahndaq, Superman arrived to challenge the antihero, setting up an epic showdown between the two characters at some point in the future.
While doing press ahead of the movie, before Cavill's return to the DCEU was widely known, Johnson teased a possible grudge match between Black Adam and Superman, saying they would "absolutely" fight, but also hinting that it would be "just a moment" as ultimately he wants to see the two characters team up.
He also said he'd love to have Cavill join him for a superhero workout in his Iron Paradise, and stated that he admires his fellow actor's training ethic and workout routine, which he described as "pretty hardcore." In fact, they have both worked with strength and conditioning coach Dave Rienzi to pack on muscle and build power while burning fat, so am IRL team-up is actually pretty likely.
