Rochelle Humes has shared a moving preview for the new Dispatches documentary she is presenting, investigating why in the UK Black women are four times more likely to suffer a maternal death than their white counterparts. Mixed race and asian women are also three times and twice as likely; rates that do not match up to existing health factors or biological risks.

The Black Maternity Scandal airs Monday (29 March) at 8.00 pm on Channel 4 and is shining a light on an issue that many have been working on and campaigning about for years.

Rochelle told fans and followers: "This is SUCH an important film and part of a wide collective effort, it’s certainly a long road but it should be one we are determined to stay on until we ensure equality for EVERY woman..❤️ PLEASE share and pass on 🌏"

It's not an easy topic for anyone but it's one that it's vital we listen to, and try to understand, if change is going to be possible.

In recent years the rates of maternal death in Black women were five times higher, and as of this year it's gone down to four; a hopeful sign that some progress is being made.

Rochelle thanked all the women that came together to make the documentary a reality, writing: "I just want to start by saying how proud I am of the incredible women that have bravely shared their truth with us. Naomi, Jade, Marley, Tinuke, Clo, Rachel, Ella, Mars, Christine.. @fivexmore_ @_marslord @abueladoula @mummys_day_out @dr_christine_ekechi @naomi_ventour @ellagrimwade you are so inspiring."

If you watch one thing on TV this week, make it this.
