Robert Webb won't take part in group dance during Strictly Come Dancing final

Robert Webb has confirmed he won't be participating in the traditional group dance during the Strictly Come Dancing final over the weekend.

The former Peep Show star withdrew from the dancing competition in October for health reasons. At the time, he confessed he had "bitten off way more than I could chew" by signing up for the show after undergoing heart surgery early last year.

And on Tuesday, the comedian revealed that he was not well enough to be involved in the upcoming group dance, which usually features all of the season's contestants.

"I thought I ought to pipe up because I won't be in the group dance of the strictly final this Sat and I didn't want my absence (or my 'silence' about it) to be taken as evidence of any kind of bad feeling towards the show," he wrote on Instagram. "My love for Strictly is a season that is forever summer. However, the producers understood that when I had to stop, I had to stop completely.

"If I gave out a few more details about what the show had been doing to me physically & mentally, you wouldn't be surprised that the offer of one more dance was politely declined."

He explained that his professional partner, Dianne Buswell, recently met him for lunch and understood his decision. He continued by apologising that the final only consists of three couples instead of the usual four because of his exit.

"I'm sorry that my departure b**gered up the format so there are only 3 couples in the final (a lot of angry Rhys fans out there - guys, you do know that if I'd tried to do week 4 but had then dropped dead during the show, it would *still* be a three-couple final, yeah?)," he stated, referring to Rhys Stephenson's recent elimination. "So anyway, the headlines are: sorry about everything, I'm not doing the thing, I'm fine now btw (by the way), and do enjoy the final which will obviously be brilliant because they're all brilliant."

The final is a competition between Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe.
