Riverdale's Cole Sprouse branded fans 'insane' this week after they reported a photo of his girlfriend on Instagram.

ICYMI, Cole has been in a relationship with Canadian model Ari Fournier since March this year, he previously dated fellow Riverdale star Lili Reinhart.

But it seems fans aren't happy with his new relationship, which hasn't gone unnoticed by Cole. This week, a photo Cole posted of Ari was removed by Instagram for "violence and incitement," which he then decided to speak up about.

Sharing a screenshot of the removal to his Instagram Story, Cole said: "These kids are insane."

By the looks of things, the removed post has still not been restored to Cole's account.

It's not the first time Cole and his girlfriend have faced backlash from Riverdale fans. Earlier this year Cole uploaded a post to his Instagram Story, saying "Time to piss off the 14yos again" followed by a series of photos of Ari.

The move came after fans bombarded his Instagram with comments about his new relationship. "My heart broke with this photo," one fan wrote under one of his posts, while another simply put "no."

But, some fans were more supportive of him and Ari, and took to the comments to share the love. One Instagram user said "Before you start attacking them, here’s a small reminder: mind your own business please," while another wrote "Some comments are so disrespectful... Respect Cole's private life."

Cole has starred as Jughead Jones in Netflix's hit series Riverdale since the first season, alongside Lili, KJ Apa, Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch. He also played Ross Gellar's son Ben in Friends, and starred with his twin, Dylan Sprouse, on the Disney series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
