Season 5 of Riverdale has only just landed on Netflix but already we're absolutely itching for season 6. Well, the good news is that sixth season of the hit show is officially confirmed, with US network The CW announcing the show's renewal earlier this month.

Here's everything we know about season 6 of Riverdale, including trailer, release date and cast.

What's season 6 of Riverdale going to be about?

What happens in season 6 obviously depends on what happens in season five, which at the moment, we have't quite finished. Of course season five took us seven years into the future, so the sixth season is likely to be a world a way from where we are now.

While storylines are still really uncertain fans have been taking to social media to discuss what they hope to see in the upcoming series.

Who's been cast in season 6 of Riverdale?

The cast has yet to be announced but at the moment we'e expecting the main cast to return for a sixth series of the show, meaning KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Veronica Lodge and Cole Sprouse are all expected to return for Riverdale season 6.

When is season 6 of Riverdale being released?

First things first, before we talk about any fan theories or casting speculation, we've got to get that official confirmation. Well, the good news is that after months of hoping we finally have it. According to a report from Decider US network The CW recently announced a number of series renewals including Riverdale, confirming that the show will be back for a sixth series.

We have yet to get an official release date for the series, but in the statement they issued to Decider, The CW said they were looking to get a head start on their renewed shows. Of course, this all depends on how the rest of the year goes in terms of filming restrictions and Covid precautions.
