Rihanna And Hailey Bieber Twin In Loewe's Rugby Top Proving Maternity Clothes Moot
Days after both having major red carpet moments at the 95th Academy Awards and the subsequent Oscars after parties, style stars Hailey Bieber and Rihanna have stepped out in almost identical street style looks.
That's right, the morning after the skincare mogul Bieber showed face at Vanity Fair and Beyoncé's Oscars after parties (where she wore a custom-made Saint Laurent gown and a Maison Valentino mini, respectively), she headed out with her husband Justin Bieber in Los Angeles, wearing Loewe's rugby top from the brand's Resort 2023 collection.
The 26-year-old paired the striped wool shirt with an oversized leather bomber jacket, low-rise baggy jeans, cowboy-style boots, and Miu Miu's Wander Matelassé bag. She added a pair of dark sunglasses and hooped earrings to finish off the ensemble.
Two days later, multi-hyphenate Rihanna went out with her beau, A$AP Rocky, in a very similar outfit.
Working to her belly-baring maternity style brief, as ever, the pregnant icon tucked up her Loewe top, and paired it with a mini Louis Vuitton trunk clutch (which is almost too adorable).
The 35-year-old followed in Bieber's footsteps by also wearing a pair of oversized, low-slung jeans, further convincing us to try the Y2K trend.
At the Oscars the expectant mother graced the red carpet in a vampy Alaïa cut-out gown, before changing into Maison Margiela for her performance of 'Lift Me Up' and then (yes, there's more) shimmied into a custom-made Valentino hot pink co-ord and cape, complete with a diamond belly chain. So this denim and shirt combination was truly a day off 'fit for the singer.
We're taking two things from this sartorial coincidence between Rhianna and Bieber. Namely, that maternity-specific clothing is largely a myth and that we need to get our mitts on a Loewe rugby shirt, STAT.
Given the sell-out nature of Loewe's viral pieces (hello that puffer bomber jacket) and the simple outfit recipe offered up by both Bieber and Rihanna, copying this ensemble in our spring wardrobe is a no-brainer.
