Yesterday morning, A$AP Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a November 2021 shooting. A source spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how his girlfriend Rihanna, who is in the third trimester of pregnancy, is doing given this turn of events. It’s a shock—and certainly not what Rihanna wanted to deal with shortly before giving birth.

The source said, 'This drama is the last thing Rihanna needs right now. She wants to be mellow, relaxed, and focused 100 percent on the arrival of her baby—not stressing out!'

'This arrest was not something they saw coming,' the source noted. Rocky was detained after arriving on a private jet from Barbados, where he had been on holiday with Rihanna.

'Rihanna made a point to navigate the public side of her pregnancy on her own terms and now suddenly things seem out of her control,' the source said.

The singer, the source added, intends to give birth in Barbados, her native country. 'Despite strong ties to New York, the plan was to make L.A. the home base once the baby came,' the source explained. 'However, Rihanna wants to give birth in Barbados and spend the first few months with the baby there before coming stateside.'

Neither Rihanna nor Rocky have spoken publicly about the arrest yet.

The news comes just a week after the couple were caught up in false breakup rumours that went viral on Twitter. A fashion insider claimed Rihanna dumped Rocky after he cheated on her with shoe designer Amina Muaddi. Muaddi released a statement on her Instagram denying the 'vile' rumour.

'I’ve always believed that an unfounded lie spread on social media doesn’t deserve any response or clarification, especially one that is so vile,' Muaddi wrote. 'I initially assumed that this fake gossip—fabricated with such malicious intent—would not be taken seriously. However in the last 24h I’ve been reminded that we live in a society that is so quick to speak on topics regardless of factual basis and that nothing is off limits. Not even during what should be one of the most beautiful and celebrated times in one’s life. Therefore I have to speak up as this is not only directed towards me but it is related to people I have a great amount of respect and affection for. While Rih is continuing to live her serene, best dressed pregnancy life and I go back to my business—I wish everyone a beautiful Easter weekend!'
