Richard Madden tapped to front Calvin Klein fragrance campaign

Richard Madden has been named the face of Calvin Klein's new fragrance Defy.

The Game of Thrones and Bodyguard actor was photographed by Jonas Lindstroem for the campaigns, which feature him posing for the camera while wearing a variety of tops - white and black T-shirts and a denim shirt - with blue jeans.

On the partnership, the Scottish actor told GQ in a statement, "I've always been a fan of Calvin Klein and having the opportunity to partner with the brand on the launch of their new fragrance, Calvin Klein Defy, has been an exciting adventure."

Defy is the American brand's first standalone men's fragrance in almost 10 years, following 2012's Encounter.

Madden, 35, follows in the footsteps of Jake Gyllenhaal and Kate Moss by becoming a Calvin Klein face, and Joanne Bletz, global senior vice president of Calvin Klein Fragrances, told WWD that he was picked because he "embraces the spirit of who we're trying to express. He's a rebel with a cause. He has a vulnerable, yet strong, side - and his characters do, too."

The global campaign was released on 1 July and will run across TV, digital and social platforms. The scent will be sold at retailers such as Macy's, Ulta Beauty, Boots and El Corte Ingles in North America, Spain and the U.K. before being rolled out to other countries in 2022. Prices range between $49 (£36) for the 30ml bottle to $114 (£83) for the 200ml size.

According to WWD, the eau de toilette, which is aimed at millennial males, is a fresh, woody fragrance featuring a blend of citrus, bergamot and fresh lavender absolute, with heart notes of vetiver oil and base notes of amber.
