Richard E. Grant looks forward to rewatching classic movies over the Christmas holidays every year.

The Everybody's Talking About Jamie star loves to have a hit of nostalgia over the festive season and get cosy on the sofa with one of his favourite childhood films.

"Christmas is the perfect excuse to watch stuff you've loved all your life, because it takes you back to the first time you ever saw it," he told Radio Times magazine. "Every time I see Mary Poppins, I feel I'm seven, or The Sound of Music, I feel like I'm five. That's the delight of it."

The Withnail & I actor admitted he finds Christmas to be "a sentimental time of year" which involves digging out all the tree decorations his daughter Olivia, now 32, made over the years.

"I've kept every decoration our daughter made for the tree when she was a child and adolescent," he shared. "I love Christmas, I put up the tree on 1st December, take it down on 12th night, it's on for six weeks. I like all of it, the parties and celebration, having people round, decorating your house and lights. Everything."

This Christmas will be a particularly difficult one for Grant as it'll be his first without Joan Washington, his wife of 35 years. The dialect coach passed away in September after a battle with lung cancer.
