Walt Disney was an American icon and he remains one of the most important figures in the history of animation. The legendary film producer was born on November 5, 1901 - exactly 101 years ago - and he's left a lasting legacy on American culture. He co-founded The Walt Disney Company in 1923, and here, we're going to take a closer look at some of the studio's best-ever films.

'Toy Story' was a landmark project for The Disney Company, as it was the first entirely computer-animated feature film. The movie was a joint venture between Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, and the charming story proved to be a huge hit with viewers, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 1995. The movie features the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Don Rickles, among others.

'The Incredibles' was another joint venture between Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. The movie centers on a couple of superheroes who try their best to keep their powers under wraps. The film was written and directed by Brad Bird, and features the voice of Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson.

'Frozen' was another huge success for The Disney Company, as the computer-animated fantasy film earned more than $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue. The film - which features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad - actually overtook 'Toy Story 3' to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' was the first film in the money-spinning franchise. The movie - which stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow - was released in 2003, and the franchise remains one of Disney's biggest success stories. In fact, the franchise has grossed more than $4.5 billion worldwide.

'The Parent Trap' was released in 1998 and the romantic comedy film helped to propel Lindsay Lohan towards superstardom. The Hollywood actress played a pair of twins in the movie, which was based on Erich Kastner's 1949 novel 'Lisa and Lottie'. The film proved to be a hit with viewers and critics, with the young actress earning rave reviews.
