Lots of celebrities opt for expensive designer dog breeds to carry around in their equally expensive Gucci and Louis Vuitton designer handbags. The former Disney star lives by the mantra to always be kind and in 2010 Selena proved she practices what she preaches after she became the fur mum to five rescue dogs and said at the time that her decision to adopt was because "there are a lot of dogs that need homes." Ten years on Selena became a fur mum yet again to adopted pooch Daisy who settled into the family just fine.

The ‘Marley and Me’ star revealed she had adopted her rescue dog Lord Chesterfield via Instagram back in 2020. Jen said: "Hi! I'd like to introduce to you the newest member of our family….this is (a very tired) Lord Chesterfield. He stole my heart immediately. A HUGE thank you to wagmorpets for the incredible work you do. Grateful you take such great care of these rescues and find them their forever homes."

In 2019, the ‘Practical Magic’ actress adopted a rescue puppy nearly one year after her first two beloved rescue dogs Poppy and Ruby died. Both Poppy and Ruby were extra special dogs, with Ruby having just two legs and Poppy missing one after getting in a car accident. Bullock’s adopted them with ex-husband Jesse James from Best Buddies Rescue in Long Beach, California. She said: "Ruby is missing her front two legs, but she walks upright like we do, and that's exactly how she goes to the bathroom as well. It's like watching a drunk sailor,"

The ‘High School Musical’ star found love at first sight with fostered rescue puppy MACA in 2018. After a Los Angeles based humane pet shop wrote on the Instagram that they were ready to euthanise the dog if they don’t find it a home, Zac stepped in and fostered her, which turned into a permanent adoption.

Not only does Ed Sheeran have an unhealthy obsession with Heinz Tomato Ketchup, he’s also the world’s biggest cat lover. Back in 2014, the ‘Shape Of You’ singer adopted Graham the one-month-old kitten after being told he was going to be put down. Ed introduced him to the world by setting up a Twitter account for his cat. He said: "So basically this one-month-old kitten was gonna get put down so I adopted him and called him Graham. Just bought Graham a bed and snacks."

Hard man Hardy has a heart full of gold after adopting his beloved rescue pup Woodstock. Back in 2015, Woody appeared in a rescue dog Peta campaign alongside Hardy as well as the red carpet for the UK premiere of action movie ‘Legend’. Hardy was devastated after the death of Woody in 2017 and said in his tribute: "He was special bro, a shining example of man's best friend."

The ‘Sister Act’ star became Mother Teresa when she adopted Verrazano the kitten back in 2011, who was thrown from a moving car off Verrazano bridge. Vinny melted Whoopi’s heart after meeting him on ‘The View’ and she couldn’t help but find him a home. She said: "For all of you who remember me on 'The View' meeting Verrazano, the kitten who was thrown out the window of a moving car on the Verrazano Bridge. I adopted him and I was finally able to take him home. His nickname is 'Vinny.'"

The former Duchess of Cornwall owns two rescue dogs; Beth and Bluebell, which she adopted back in 2017 from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London. Both Camilla and her pets featured on the front cover of July’s 2022 Country Life issue. Camilla previously explained that when Bluebell was initially found she was "wandering about in woods, no hair on her, covered in sores, virtually dead".

The ‘Mamma Mia!’ actress is a big advocate for animal rescue and even has a farm in Upstate New York full of animals which includes; chickens, goats, horses, cats, dogs and an adopted donkey. She said: "He's a rescue, who was abused and had bad legs but he's had a year of feeling safe now, so he's fine. "We don't need commercial breeding - we just don't. "People think that behaviorally, it won't be easy to train them, or that they're emotionally unstable, but that can be true for any animal.”

The ‘Break Free’ singer is a grand advocate for animal rights. Since going vegan in 2013, Ariana as adopted multiple animals, including 10 rescue dogs as well as a pig. Ariana even opened up her own animal shelter in LA back in 2020 called Orange Twins Rescue. She said: "I got involved with dog rescues by simply loving animals. Dogs are the most harmless, sweetest babes in the world. They show nothing but unconditional love, so they deserve that in return ... The thought of a sweet, loving angel going without a home or being killed simply because there's no one who will come and claim him is heartbreaking. I want to help spread the word as much as I can."
