As if we needed another reminder than Regé-Jean Page will not be returning for series two of Bridgerton, he revealed this week that he has left the cast Whatsapp group.

The 31-year-old actor broke hearts worldwide when it was announced that his character Simon Basset the Duke of Hastings would not be making an appearance in the second season of Netflix's hit regency show.

Well, now it looks as though the dream is officially over after Page revealed this week that he has 'respectfully exited' the Bridgerton Whatsapp group.

When asked if he was in the group during an interview with GQ he explained, 'No, the universe has expanded. So I’m no longer in it.'

He added that he made the choice to bow out, explaining, 'I respectfully exited. I didn’t want to put them in an awkward situation where they had to kick me out.'

However, he also added that he hasn't entirely ruled out the possibility of returning to the show for a brief cameo, at first responding to the question, 'You know I couldn’t tell you!' and later adding, 'Isn’t there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren’t suspecting?'

We're crossing all our fingers.
